Billy Boo was captured on a busy main road by animal rights activists. The traffic raced on without even slowing and one of the people trying to help him was just narrowly missed by a car. Happily Billy Boo was rescued from his predicament.
When he arrived at the shelter, it must have been like paradise for him because he has not experienced a lot of good things in his life so far. It was as if he looked completely incredulous at all the people, as though he could not believe that they petted him and didn’t beat him and he certainly enjoyed the fuss from the first second! We have so many of this breed of dog come through our shelters and they don’t show any signs of aggression, a little with fear maybe, but a merciless confidence. The fact that a dog like Billy Boo is still willing to trust and love humans in amazing and he deserves the reward of a wonderful family.
Billy Boo is still a sad sight, each bone is visible and he is still far from having his ideal weight, but he is healthy. He has been tested for various diseases and all results were negative, which is just great, and he has been vaccinated.
He is a very agile dog with a wonderful character. Pointers, in the right hands, make perfect family dogs and can be very well trained. Many of these so-called hunting dogs have no real hunting instinct and that’s why they were discarded, because they prefer to seek proximity of man, rather than chasing after hares. How strong Billy Boo’s hunting instinct is but he WILL NOT be re-homed as a hunting dog.
