Katy was allowed to start their journey to Germany on 10 January 2014. First, she moved into a foster home, but her new owner found her very quickly. On 21 January, she moved already into her forever home. Katy has been renamed and is now called Josy. Her new owner is very happy with her. Josy is now like a therapy dog for her. Her anxiety has reduced greatly. A special dog belongs to a special someone. Good luck in your new home...
Read More3 months ago Milo is in our family and we love him so much. He is very clever and he does funny things all day long. The pet that you give him to Germany is his favourite toy (we call it “Lumpi”). Milo is very careful with Lumpi and he always gives him special places, for example on the sofa or in our shoes. Sometimes he hides it under a cover. He loves his Lumpi very much. Every Saturday Milo goes to a school for dogs, that`s very exciting and funny for him. He likes to learn new things and he loves to play with other dogs. He also loves it, when we throw balls and he can catch them. Milo might have small legs, but can run as fast as a graydog . Milo`s favourite hobby is eating, he`s always hungry. Since he`s here, our livingroom is a mess! Everywhere you look, there are Milo`s toys and our socks he has stolen. We are so happy about this little dog. Thank you for preparing him for a new life. 🙂 We will always take care of him. We wish you and your family merry christmas and good luck for 2014. Many greetings and a big kiss from Milo to you. ...
Read MoreOn a chilly January day we came across this lovely young boy sitting on a corner in our village, looking sad and lonely. He didn’t look undernourished and his skin was in a reasonable condition so we thought he was probably a local dog we hadn’t come across before and that he would take himself off home later in the day. The next day, there he was again, and the day after that, and the day after that. Talking to some other locals we discovered that he was on that corner all day long, just disappearing at night. Several people were giving him food and water, but no-one could really get close to him. After a few days he would wag his tail every time we came by, he started to follow us a little up the road and although a little wary of our two dogs, he was reasonably comfortable as long as they didn’t come too close. By this time we were also taking him food and water morning and evening and gaining his trust. I would sit with Pippin (I had made the fatal mistake of naming him!) and he would let me stroke him, whilst my husband walked our two dogs. At this stage I knew we had to do something more for him as he was either lost or abandoned and would not survive on his own in the cold. The heart breaking thing for me was that every time a van came by he would jump up and get excited, as though he thought someone had come to collect him. This led me to believe he had been dumped. Luckily, a few days later, we were able to find a place for him in a private shelter, getting him in the car though was another matter! He had come to trust me, but putting a collar and lead on him was obviously a very stressful thing for him. However we managed and he actually settled well in the back of the car (that’s the photo) with me soothing him. He did start to panic when we took him out of the car at the shelter, and was very, very nervous. Leaving him there was so upsetting for us, but with two dogs already we just could not take him on ourselves. I was given regular updates on his progress and he settled really well and quickly. The lovely people at the shelter estimated he was about one year to 18 months old, got all his vaccinations sorted out and he was neutered. We obviously contributed to the cost of this treatment because without that the shelter could not have taken him on. I knew he was being advertised on the web site and I was anxious about him as I so hoped he would get a lovely new home. I was delighted when not many weeks later I heard that he was soon flying off to a foster home in Germany where he would then move on to a permanent home. Pippin is now well settled in his lovely new home with his new doggy friends and I am so happy that we were able to help him. His is not necessarily a typical story. More often than not there is no room in any of the shelters and no foster homes. Luck was on his side I think, plus the wonderful help from the shelter and CyDRA....
Read MoreOne April evening this beautiful, gentle little boy turned up at our front gate. Whether he heard the dogs and was looking for company, or it was just luck, who knows. He was looking rather skinny and coughing a bit, but otherwise looked in a reasonable condition and was not shy of people or other dogs. What to do with him at 11pm on a Saturday night was the question. We couldn’t turn our backs on him. I made a phone call and managed to secure a place for him the following week, and a neighbour was able to take him in until Monday. She fell in love with him, as did her own little dog, but the circumstances were not right for her to keep him sadly. Jasper settled very quickly in my neighbour’s house and he was very well behaved. We felt he had possibly come from a proper home, but had no idea how he turned up on our road. In the car going to the shelter the following Monday he was comfortable and confident and when we handed him over to the lovely helper he went happily. It was me that cried all the way home! As luck would have it, as he was young and with a bit of a cough, it was felt that he needed some special care and a wonderful foster home was found for him within a couple of days, and the vet treated him for his cough. Now, this was an even luckier turn of events for little Jasper as some friends of his foster mum had family staying with them. They got to know Jasper over the time they were here and fell totally in love with him, so much so that they couldn’t bear to be without him. Within a few weeks Jasper was made ready to travel and is now living the life of riley in the UK, going on lovely walks with lots of other doggy friends. Very rarely do things happen as quickly and smoothly as this for our doggies, but this time all the stars were obviously in alignment for gentle Jasper. ...
Read MoreBobbi is a very lucky girl because a very kind lady from the Czech Republic fell in love with her and couldn’t live without her! Now she is doing really, really well despite a stressful journey for the people taking her to her new home (Bobbi didn’t turn a hair!) Unfortunately the bottom of the travel box broke and it was touch and go that the airline would let her fly, but luckily it was fixed 30 mins before they flew! She was collected at the other end by her new mum and she has gone from strength to strength, she has put on weight, she goes for walks everyday and plays with all the other dogs off the lead in the big park. Apparently she has jumped into the river to try and catch the ducks!! She is great on the lead and is not scared of cars or the road any more. She is a happy dog and her new mum loves her tooooo much! We are all happy that this story has had a happy ending. ...
