Katy was found as a stray and was very scared. In fact, it was a miracle that she was ever caught!
Now that she has been at the shelter a while and has settled somewhat, we are seeing more of her character but she is a quiet little girl, always in the background and looking for a little peace. When I entered the kennel, she came happily with her pack and wanted to be petted, but she was very cautious in her approach. Separated from the pack, she is very insecure and it took some time before I was able to convince her that I do not want to hurt her and also the camera is quite safe! Happily, after some time, she enjoyed the cuddles.
Katy is a dog who will need a lot of time, patience, love and empathy. She is your typically anxious dog, very careful with anything new. She needs firstly to learn that the world is not always a bad place and that there are people who only want to help her.
If you feel to want to give her the time and love she needs we are sure that Katy will be a perfect family dog. She needs a calm environment, with people who will devote a lot of time to her, so a quiet, calm environment is needed. Of course it is possible that, once in a settled home, Katy will discover the pleasures of family life, and the right care and the right training will bring out a lively and maybe even playful personality.
