Thank you and Goodbye
Since March 2012 Carole Husein worked with her heart and soul for our Cyprus dogs as a trainer.
She worked especially for a better life for our fearful dogs and changes their lives in a very better direction. She also put her energy in the training of people, and was able to build a small but fine trainer team.
Carole has now decided, to our great regret, to leave Cyprus and to go back to England with her husband and her animals.
This week Carole had her last day and said goodbye to all dogs with a heavy heart.
Our small team of trainers will do their best to continue the work for the dogs with all what they have learned.
Happy End of Capper, formerly Bruce
Hi together,
finally we manage to send a few pictures of Capper (formerly Bruce) and write a little bit about him.
Capper has super settled in and learned a lot. He is very attentive and willing to learn. We recently started to go to dog school, which he has a lot of fun. Otherwise he enjoys here the forest and walks.
We are pleased that Capper understands very well with our Labrador bitch. Both love to play and be happy together.
He has found a good new home with us, we all are very happy together.
We received new photos and a video of Trudy and Heath….
… from their forever homes in the UK. Many thanks for the Update about Trudy and her brother Heath. They settled in very well. Trudy is still a little bit shy, but Heath is now a typical playful little puppy boy. We are so grateful, that these both have found nice homes in the UK. They live not together but they can meet each other so often as possible.

Our little boy Duddley is also in a foster home in Germany. His foster family sent us some new photos of him. He is such a cute boy.

Luna has hit the jackpot in Germany!
Luna writes:
I landed on 8th October 2014 with my brother Benji and six other Cyprus paws in Hamburg. It was so exciting when I was allowed to leave my box I was really fidgety.
On the way to my foster home my foster mom told me, that a family had inquired after me. Hard to believe, I was not even in the right place, some one was interested in me? Me? Really?
Of course I wanted to make a good impression and behaved well in the house. In our walk there were a few things that unsettled me a bit.
But my foster family was always by my side and showed me that there was no reason to be afraid.
Well, and what can I say, after 6 days the new family visited me. As the people stood there before me, I was probably so excited that I started to bark, I have not even dared to take the treats!

Flight 17th October from Larnaca to Hamburg/Germany
Today on Friday 17th October 2014 Duddley flies off to his foster home in Germany.
We hope he find a forever home soon.

End of Season Fundraiser 12th October 2014
Sunday dawned bright and sunny as usual here, but by lunchtime the storm clouds were gathering and the thunder was rumbling – oh dear!
Would we get rained out? Well, they say the sun shines on the righteous and it truly did for all the kind and caring animal lovers who joined the party.
There were all the usual suspects and some unexpected ones too – Lesley was surprised, a couple of days before the event, to find an ex work colleague and husband on her doorstep! They were visiting Cyprus, so of course Lesley invited them along.
Everyone enjoyed themselves, as I think you can tell from the photos. We had great music from Shades of Gray and the lovely Angela Allery, all of whom so generously gave their performances for free.
Happy End of Dennis
Dennis is now called buddy in his new home.
Buddy has now what he was looking for: a man who cares 24 hours for him.
Half a year with Buddy:
Buddy likes to run next the bike and Buddy would not want to be without his owner, and vice versa, it is the same. This is precisely what the two makes a great team.
Buddy is still a great cuddler and a quiet dog. He will be just eternally grateful that he finally got a human on his site who allowed to accompany him for a lifetime.
Happy End Milo
One year ago we went to the airport to pick up a little shy dog called Milo, without knowing that this little dog will be so important to us.
He looks like a little sheep, he has already a place on the sofa, he has a small swimmingpool and every plade and pillow is his own. Hes always hungry but anyway he doesnt eat everything. Hes very choosey.
The little dog that you give him for his travel to Germany is still very important for Milo and he takes care of “Lumpi” everytime. Every evening he search a place for Lumpi where he can sleep. These are for example our feet, sometimes he burys Lumpi in our plades or hides him under the pillows. When he has found a safe place after 10-15 minutes, Milo goes to sleep too. One time he hide Lumpi in the garden and he didnt find him again. 3 days we had dig our garden till we found Lumpi. He was very dirty and Milo was very happy to have him again.
Every Saturday we go to school for dogs. Milo loves these lessons and he has many friends there. One dog called Louie is his very best friend and this dog is from Cyprus too !

Arrival 8th October 2014 in Hamburg/Germany
On the second flight aboard are: Mats, Ashkii, Gus, Patrick, Rocky, Luna, Stacey, Benji, Trevor, Trim, Sienna, Yanto, Janis and Sebastian, so a total of 14 dogs!
The new owners and the foster homes await a very big arrival. We hope the team in Germany don´t lose the track, we wish you all a lot of fun and a nice time.
8th October 2014 – Statement
On 27th September CyDRA announced an additional partnership with the newly formed Zypernpfoten in Not e.V., with the joint aim to help even more Cyprus dogs on their way to better lives.
Our hope was that we could work with all our partners to achieve this aim. Unfortunately Zypernhunde, our existing partner in Germany, have decided that they do not wish to continue with this partnership.
We would like to thank Zypernhunde and its many volunteers for all their hard work with us over the last few years. Together we were able to achieve great success during our partnership. We wish them every success for their work in the future rehoming Cyprus dogs.

Monty – a dog without a chance in Cyprus – has found happiness in Germany
In April Minta’s big brother came by plane from Cyprus to Germany. Minta was also a dog without a chance in Cyprus. Minta had found happiness in Germany and so the time had come for Monty to do the same.
Monty was allowed to move into the same foster home as Minta.
Both dogs were born in 2009 in Cyprus. The mother and two other siblings quickly found homes. Only Minta, Monty and another brother had to stay in the shelter. We assumed for the rest of their lives.
The dogs were sick (a fur problem) and so-called “shadow dogs”. They were never allowed to experience a social environment or everyday things. Their fear was so great in any new environment that they had to stay at the shelter with no chance of rehoming.
The helpers in the shelters felt all powerless to help find theses dogs a normal home. Of course, the dogs were well taken care of, but knowing that this would be their forever home made them feel sad..
I want to try to explain to you how a dog taken into a foster home may feel.
Flight 8th October from Larnaca to Frankfurt/Germany
Tomorrow we have 2 flights from Cyprus to Germany.
Aboard on the first flight is Cita. She flies off to Frankfurt to her new forever home.
We wish her a wonderful new life!
Mini had great luck…
… When she was seriously injured, someone found and helped her. But now she needs a bit more luck to find a forever home where will be loved unconditionally.
Mini was found after she dragged herself to the door of a lawyer. It was late August and the lawyer lives in a small village near Limassol. Mini had really great luck that her saviour came home and found her completely exhausted there. He noticed right away that something was wrong with her . He looked at her and he immediately saw that her left hind leg was badly injured and he took her straight away to a vet.
It looked like Mini was hit by a car and just left there on the street. We can not imagine what pain she must have been suffering.
The vet quickly realized that her little leg was beyond saving. The only way to take her pain away was to amputate the leg.
The surgery is now behind her and she has already recovered. Mini is currently living at the vets house because her rescuer works full time and could not take care of the little girl. Meanwhile, she has recovered so well that we were able to vaccinate her already.
Happy Ending: One year with Danny
Hello all together,
soon it is time and I’m a year with my family. I know that I was brought into a large “bird” on 19.09.2013 and had a long journey ahead of me. When I arrived in Germany, I came to my foster mom. For this, again, a heartfelt thanks to the family. On 21.09.2013 my owner came to fetch me. I was irritated again having to go on trips. But when I finally arrived at my new home, I already felt at home.
Let me tell you what I have experienced. My family has said that they must theft assure me because all wanted me and always said “he is sweet” and I have always been very pleased with it. With 5 months I have lost my milk teeth, oh man, that is not at all – I without teeth Grrrr -., But luckily others came by quickly.
Then on 6.12.2013 somewhat whites come from heaven, then I growled at first, but then I thought it was great. Christmas came, oh that’s something nice when you can open your presents. New Year I slept. Then came 2014, I was always pretty and popular and have many dog pals and girlfriends. I learn a lot and have fun at the same time.

Happy End of Emily
In early August Emily is landed in Hamburg, and she was so excited that she could hardly keep still. At the airport, she was greeted by an equal part of her new family and taken with new in their home.
There she has a huge garden and a cat with which she had to get along, what was not so easy.
Three love children also live there, so enough action for a poodle girl like her.
At first she had often to scare something wrong, but her owner said always that she will remember that everything is fine there. Of course, her owner was right.

Today on the 1st October 2014 Mahalis flew off to his new forever home.

News of Henry from his foster home in Germany
Henry arrived well in his foster home.
He shows there insanely sweet and cuddly (albeit young dog typically somewhat stormy). He is also housebroken and is good on a leash.
In rabbits, he shows no hunting instinct, but stands there and watching calmly. He is so quiet that the rabbits even come to the fence to sniff him.

Jed slowly settles in at his foster home. He is still a little shy and cautious, but it gets better every day.

We have news of Elina from her foster home in Germany
Her foster mom describes her as follows:
Now Elina is been almost two weeks with us. She enjoys the daily walks and with other dogs she is totally relaxed. Elina is a friendly, open-minded dog, but she also has a lot of power in herself. Therefore, it would be the ideal companion for sporty people. A dog training school would be an advantage as she has probably no education in her life (only in the shelter with the trainer team). She learns very quickly and for treats she does almost everything. “Sit” already works perfectly on a leash and she also runs very well behaved. She is house trained and stays with her dog friends a few hours alone, without to make nonsense.

Our beautiful girl Jacky has arrived in Germany. She is fine there. She can play with another Cyprus dog Pumba in her foster home. Her wish is now a own family, a lot of love, cuddles and long walks. Good luck Sweetheart.

CyDRA is delighted to announce that we are now also working in partnership with Zypernpfoten in Not e.V.(Cyprus Paws in Need), a fully registered charity organisation which has been founded in Germany, to provide even more help to our Cyprus dogs.
We are excited to commence work together and give a huge welcome to all our new colleagues. We believe this is another step forward which will give Cyprus dogs an even bigger opportunity to find the loving homes they deserve.
This collaboration is in addition to our already established partnerships, both here in Cyprus and in Germany. We have also recently established some links to help us to rehome to the UK too. (more…)

Yesterday on 24th September 2014 Trudy and her brother Heath flew off to their new homes in the UK.
Both were eagerly awaited from their new mommies.

Yesterday on 19th September 2014 Jacky and Jed flew off to their foster homes in Germany.
They had a good flight. In Hamburg both were little scared about the new situation, but the welcome meat was tasty and both are good arrived in their foster homes.

Today on 13th September 2014 Zaid´s new mommy is waiting for him, because Zaid has finally a space on a flight and he flies off now to his mommy.

Report Survivors Party 30th August 2014
Energetic fundraiser, Lesley Hey, organised yet another great party to raise funds for Cyprus Dogs Rehoming Association (CyDRA). It was held on Saturday 30st August at the UKLF Club and was attended by club members, friends of CyDRA, and CyDRA members and their families and friends.
It was a small function for those of us who braved the Cyprus summer heat – hence the title: Survivors’ Party. Judging by the smiles we can safely say we all survived very well! The evening was made special as it was also Lesley’s birthday and, generous as ever, she asked people to donate to CyDRA rather than give her presents. With the additional funds raised through very good raffle, she raised over Euro 300 which she presented to the 2nd Chaiman of CyDRA.
A great evening was had by all. The vocalist, the very entertaining Angela Allery, provided first class entertainment by singing a wide variety of past and present hit songs – and showed a great degree of stamina in the heat of the evening.

Flight 5th September 2014 from Paphos to Hamburg/Germany
On Friday 5th September 2014 ten more dogs fly out from Cyprus and lands in Hamburg/Germany.
Aboard will be: Line, Grace, Brad, Chilly, Cristo, Snooze, Lucil, Max, Angel and Jake. Only Snooze and Angel are already homed in Germany, the others fly off to their foster homes.
