Rusty is a spaniel cross who turned up at PAWS one day limping. Nobody knows how he got down there, but as it seems he has found his rescuers himself!
He was very, very anxious, but he also seemed to realize that he needed help and would find it here.
Rusty had a very bad injury of the hind leg. It was not a pretty sight and was clear to everyone that Rusty must go as quickly as possible to see the vet.
The vet looked at the injury and there was no other solution than an amputation of the hind leg.
Rusty has since recovered well from this traumatic experience. He gets along well with his canine buddies, but he is still very suspicious and fearful of humans. If there is someone in his kennel he does not know he prefers to hide, poor boy. But he never shows a sign of aggression, only fear.
His behaviour is improving more and more. At the photo shoot, I took a lot of time and spent a long time in his kennel. Rusty came closer and closer. He was obviously interested in me and at some point he sat beside me and let me stroke him.
Rusty does enjoy some attention and a little fuss, despite his nervousness.
For Rusty, we are looking for a quiet and understanding family, who engages with his disability and his fear. He himself is perfectly comfortable with his three legs. He can run and play so for him, all this is not a limitation.
Could you take Rusty to your heart and give this little chap a second chance? Get in touch with us and we are sure you will all live happily ever after.
